Easy White Bread

Easy White Bread – Linda’s Favorite Make-in-a-Hurry Bread Recipe

2 cups flour

¼ cup sugar

1 tbsp. salt

2 packages yeast

2 ½ cups milk

¼ cup oil

1 egg

4-5 cups flour


Combine flour sugar, salt and dry yeast in a large mixer bowl. Scald milk and add oil. Cook milk to lukewarm and add to flour mixture. Add egg. Beat ½ minute at low speed, 3 minutes at medium speed. By hand, gradually stir in 4-5 cups additional flour to form a soft dough. Cover dough and let rise until double. Shape into two loaves. Place in greased loaf pans. Cover and let rise until light. Bake 375 degrees F. for 35-40 minutes.

Buttermilk Rolls

Buttermilk Rolls


3 cups buttermilk

1 tbsp. yeast

3 tbsp. warm water

3 eggs

½ cup sugar

2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. soda

1 cube butter

10-12 cups flour

Mix buttermilk (warm), yeast, water and add 3 cups flour. Beat 200 strokes. Let stand one hour. Add beaten eggs, sugar, soda, salt and butter. Add flour to make a soft dough. Beat well. Let stand one hour. Beat dough down. Cover and put in refrigerator overnight. Three hours before baking, roll out the dough. Cut with a small glass, put in greased muffin tins, dip another cut out roll in butter and put it on top of the first one in the muffin tins. Let rise and bake at 375 degrees until golden brown. Makes three dozen rolls.
